April 2016: After the long, dark winter of 2015/2016, a week in the spectacular Sierra Nevada, Andalusia, Spain was just what we all needed.
7 days, 21 Gorillas, 520 miles, 40,000ft of climbing, 34 hours in the saddle and many more hours of sun, countless beers, cakes, and clif bars.
Here’s a little photo diary of some of The Gorilla Firm’s highlights. Huge thanks to Justine for making it all happen and Jimmy for being our on-hand bike mechanical and generally all-round good guy.
Arriving at the villa, all eager to build bikes and explore in the sun
Acclimatisation ride Gorilla-style involves a gentle spin down to the coast to locate the nearest and best bars. ¡Salud!
Climbing up out of Mojacar on the coast road with the team, reluctant to leave the Carbonaras descent for another day
Up Bedar we go, what a climb!
That’s a whole lotta Gorillas.
About to hit the El Chive climb. A little more off-road than anticipated but a pretty epic one.
Mick ‘the worm’ Cable. This man knows how to refuel up the mountain.
Almost looking organised. That’s a first.
Prizes for guessing who’s legs are who’s. La Virgen was pretty special.
The legendary G. Gooding mastering the gravel on the poor Cipo.
Another day, another ride. Living life in Paradise.
Rest day = time for the belgian bar, Leffe Blond and a cheeky 100 miler, oops.
The rain in Spain – you don’t get muddy, just really, really dusty.
Fuelling up for another day in the mountains.
Some of us opted for a longer ride South into the remote mountains. It was totally worth it.
Girls only – these Gorilla ladies are simply awesome.
Team kit on point from Mojacar. Post obligatory-icecream.
Wrapping up the week with Mexican night. The two litres of Tequila made things pretty entertaining…
